Make Your Own Paper Sun

Take the orange coloured A4 paper and fold from the top left to right. Forming a  right angled triangle.

Make sure the folded sides are neatly aligned.

Cut the extra paper just below the triangle.

Now fold the triangle in half by bringing the top of the triangle to meet the bottom left side.

Divide the triangle into 3 equal segments.

If the entire base of the triangle is 9cm, use a ruler and pen to highlight the 3cm, 6cm and 9cm mark

Then draw a line from the base to the tip on the first and second mark.

Another way is to use a protractor.

Place a protractor on the closed tip of the triangle.
Make sure the tip is exactly at the centre. ( 90 and 180 degrees will be on both sides)

Use a pencil to place a dot at 120 and 150 degrees angle.

From the dots made, draw lines connecting the tip of the triangle to the base.

Turn the triangle with the tip side down.

Fold the left edge to the right making sure to align where the markings are.

Repeat for the the right side.

Cut along the horizontal edge as pictured

Take a pen and draw a V shape from both corners as pictured and cut out the V shape.

Unfold to reveal the rays of your paper sun.

Take the yellow coloured paper and cut out a circle smaller than the paper sun rays you just made.

You may use a compass to draw a circle on your coloured paper and then cut it out with scissors.

Or you could use a bowl or any perfectly round object to draw the circle.

Glue the circle to the centre of the rays.

Add two googly eyes, draw a nose and a mouth.

Your paper sun can be used a teaching or learning in your preschool or kindergarten class.

Try attaching a small string with glue and hanging on the classroom wall as decorative piece.

Enjoy
