If you are after a heart themed activity that is great at home and in the classroom, this Valentines Lovemeter Craft is fun for kids to make and the fun continues when the activity is completed.

There is much fun to be had while making this popsicle stick valentines craft. The kids get to build the frame of the lovemeter and decorate it anyhow they want.

Then they get to add loved ones on their lovemeter like mom, dad, siblings and friends.

Materials need to make your own Valentines Lovemeter

Cardstock paper paper (3 different colours)

Free printable template – print below

Paper fasteners

Scissors

Craft sticks – Use coloured craft sticks or paint the plain ones you have.

Gluestick

Heart shape cutters

How to make Valentines Lovemeter Craft

Print out the valentines lovemeter craft template out on different coloured card stock paper

Make sure you print the templates on the coloured paper of choice. You will want the finished craft’s colours to pop.

The templates can be printed free in the link below at the end of this post

Using the scissors, cut out all the pieces on the templates.

Glue the strips to the hearts as pictured

    

Use a sharp object or craft knife to make a hole in the centre of the circle.

Also make a hole at the top of the strip with the smaller heart.

Gently roll it round to make a hole just enough for the paper fastener

   

Download Insert the paper fastener through the short heart strip and the paper circle.

Close the paper fastener to hold it in place.

Then glue the longer heart strip to the back of the paper circle

   

Now it is time to add your favourite people on to the lovemeter.

Cut out some hearts and decorate as you please.

You can glue the hearts around the edges

Now lets build the frame to put the lovemeter.

Glue the craft sticks in place as pictured below.

You may use pva glue or glue stick. If using pva glue let it dry completely before proceeding to the next step

    

Once completely dry and the craft sticks are in place, glue the lovemeter on to the craft stick frame.

Apply glue to the frame, place firmly in the middle.

Decorate the frame with hearts.

Punch out some heart shapes and decorate the craft sticks.

If you do not have heart shape cutters, substitute with mini pom poms

Materials needed

White A4 cardstock paper to print template

Flower card template (Download free below)

Glue stick

Popsicle stick

Markers or crayons

Scissors

How to make a Flower Card

Start by printing the flower card template.

If you are using the non coloured version, now is the time to get creative by colouring using a markers or crayons. Make sure to use bright colours to make your finished card pop.

Colour the leaves that will be glued to the popsicle stick as well.

Once you are done colouring, cut out the template using a pair of scissors. Careful not to rush cutting the round edges.

Cut out the small leaves and flowers too

Finshed cutting? Now fold the flowers in half along the dotted line.

Write your message on the inside and the outside. You may choose to only write your message inside the card and just decorate the outside. It is up to you.

Take the popsicle stick, add glue to the top and stick it to the back of the flower card. Make sure it is glued to the back such that you can open and close the card the right way.

Glue the leaves to the popsicle stick
